Artist's Comments

This is a piece that I made for a school assembly on Dante's Inferno. We were supposed to do a representation of the Inferno, and this is mine. The gate-like thing represents the gates to Hell, and the girl is touring through Hell, guided by her religion (the crosses on the socks) and protected by her beliefs (the 'barrier' between her and the darkness). Another inspiration for this is 'The Red Shoes' by Hans Christian Andersen. If you're unfamiliar with the story, the gist of it is that a girl gets these red shoes and cannot stop dancing, no matter what. That's another explanation as to why she's being led through Hell.

The text reads "abandon all hope, ye who enter here" in the original text.

Done with Sakura microns, colored pencil, Sharpie, and India ink. Adjusted in Photoshop so as to look like the hard copy.

Me too. It was really scary when I first put the ink on (that's all the gray) because it looked really bad until I had the whole thing covered. Thankies for the :+fav: and the watch!

I should be thanking you. The picture had the exact pose that I had in mind, and I was so glad when I could find a good one because I kept messing it up when I tried to do it completely from my head.
